GLOBAL WARMING
Global warming is the potential increase in the average temperature of the atmosphere, oceans and landmasses of Earth. At present, the planet appears to be facing a rapid warmth, the chief cause being the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural gas, which releases into the atmosphere carbon dioxide, including other greenhouse gases.
Humans escalate the amount of carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere when they burn fossil fuels, solid wastes, wood and wood products to heat buildings, drive vehicles, generate electricity and so on. At the same time, the number of trees available to absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis has been greatly reduced by deforestation. Methane, an even more effective insulator, is emitted during the production and transport of coal, natural gas and oil. It traps over 21 times more heat that carbon dioxide. In addition, nitrous oxide has an insulating power exceeding that of carbon dioxide by 270 times. It is released primarily by burning fossil fuels and it is estimated that its concentration in the atmosphere has increased by 15 percent.
The Greenhouse Effect, another human induced global warming, is a serious causative agent of the related environmental problem. It can be associated with solar energy that floods onto our planet in the form of short-wave radiation...
