As an adult, returning to school has more disadvantages. You take on more responsibilities. You have more concerns about money, insecurities about being set apart from others just out of high school, family issues and work matters. Also there is a fear of changing careers. You already have a job or a career and you try to choose a degree plan that goes along with what you do.
Going to college right out of high school your mind is fresh with what you just learned. You have more time to focus on just school, if you don't have a job. As a high school graduate, you are more motivated to find a degree plan that will be good for your future. You have more time to decide what you want to do with your life and change your degree plan at anytime to focus on a new one.
