Plot
At this time the French army is attacking Fort William Henry, a British outpost commanded by Colonel Monroe. Monroe's daughters Alice and Cora set out from Fort Edward to visit their father. They have been given guides to guide them in the right direction through the dangerous woods; their guides are Major Duncan Heyward and an Indian named Magua. After traveling for a little while the group meets up with a woods man named Hawkeye, and his two Indian friends, Chingachgook and Uncas. Chingachgook's son is the only other surviving member of the Mohican tribe. Hawkeye says that Magua has deliberately lead the group in the wrong direction and he knows that whatever he plans for them will not be good. So the three men set out on foot to find them.
After a gunfight breaks out Hawkeye and the Mohicans lead the group to safety in a cave near a waterfall. Hawkeye and the Mohicans escape down the river, but Indians from the Huron tribe, which is also Magua's tribe, capture Alice, Cora, Heyward, and Gamut. When Heyward tries to convert Magua to the English side, the Huron says that he wants revenge on Monroe for past humiliation and proposes to free Alice if Cora will marry him...
