Good morning <<insert name here>> and fellow year <<insert year>> students,
Today, I will be talking about the Individual Experience, with a focus on the Individual Perspective. The Individual Perspective refers to the relation of facts or other subject matter as viewed solitarily by the mind or eye. As the perspective is an individual one, it is apparent that there are many ways of interpreting it.
Lyrics are an excellent way of expressing a perspective, or someone's own life-changing experience. This is well represented in the song "Lose Yourself" performed and composed by Eminem, which I've chosen as my first related text in the stimulus booklet I've created. "His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy" a line from the first verse of the song, which describes the individuals perspective with the effective use of sensual writing. It refers to ones sense of touch and sight which helps the responder visualise the perception of the subject. There is also the clever use of colloquialisms throughout the song, which give the responder an idea of the characters personality. The last line in the chorus "He better go capture this moment and hope it don't pass him" is the key to understanding what the song is about. The mood is somewhat inspirational, as it focuses on an individuals golden opportunity and whether they capture it, or just let it slip...
