... Four days after her demise, Parliament passed a highly disputed law banning Capital Punishment. This was the last case of Capital Punishment. Since then people have tried to bring capital punishment back into society in Britain, the last time in 1989, though they have not succeeded. Capital Punishment is now a breach of human rights under Section 19, but then again so is murder. This essay will discuss the arguments in favour of both sides and in the end, come to a conclusion based on the evidence that is presented.
The main argument in favour of Capital Punishment is this; the potential murderer would think twice before committing the act if he knew that he might also die when caught. It would seem that this statement is correct, as since Capital Punishment was abolished, crime rates and murders have soared through the roof for the reason that, when your sentence is passed, you may be free within 15 years.
