The Taliban's Other Violation of Human Rights: Through the Eyes of a Victim.
As current events continue to unfold, the Taliban has become known as a vital organization for terrorist activity. While their whereabouts and suspected schemes are widely discussed in the, media, people everywhere have become both disgusted and enthralled with their constant attempts to kill Innocent people. They think it morbid, perverse and a violation towards humanity, and so it is. But another issue of violation towards human rights has become an enduring part of their culture. When the Taliban overtook Afghanistan in 1994, Afghan women under the Taliban began to suffer great restrictions. They are not permitted to attend schools, to have jobs, deal with male shopkeepers, appear in public without a male chaperone, wear makeup, bright colors, or heeled shoes, and must wear a head to toe burqua. They are expected to be silent and completely inconspicuous, projecting no sexual appeal or opinion in society. The treatment that they continue to receive could be considered little more than prison.
