William Shakespeare is a world renounced playwright who wrote many different types of plays which included; Comedy, Tragedy, Romances, and Historical dramas. The different character descriptions and the different settings truly make him one of the best playwrights the world had ever seen. Many of his plays were well recognized and passed down generation to generation. Most of his plays were well thought out and imaginative.
The Merchant of Venice is a great play written by a great playwright; William Shakespeare. This play is a Romantic Comedy, which has won the heart and minds of many through the centuries in which it was performed. This is due to the countless puns, the humorous insults to the suitors of Portia, the other funny part in the story happens to be when there is a marriage of people from different communities and social status with Gratiano and Jessica. The other humorous scene in the Merchant of Venice is when the characters make mistakes in their words meaning to say one thing but using a word that has a whole new meaning along with the respect given and taken from character to character.
There are many different puns in "The Merchant of Venice" one of them is "I am Sir Oracle, And when I ope my lips, let no dog bark!" This mocks "sir" lowering its value of respect and he wants no one inferior to him to interrupt him...
