THE DAY OF THE DEAD
Festival is a special occasion when people celebrate something such as a religious
event, and there is often a public holiday and 'the Day of the Dead' or 'Dia de los
Muertos' that is the unique fiesta in Mexico. The day of the dead in Mexico is a festive
occasion that celebrates the continuity of life and it shatters the boundries between life and
death. It is the meaning of the valuable life and makes dead explicit as a natural phenomenon.
Moreover, As Luisa Esquiroz Arellano stated that the Days of the Dead offerings insure peace
with the spirits and reasure the living of their continued protection in all matters of daily
life.(Arenello,76) Mexicans' approach to death is totally different than other nations. In
addition to that although it seems frightful and upsetting for the people who does not know
the meaning of the day, it is a feast of welcome for the souls of the dead. These special days
of celebration are set aside remember friends, family and others who have passed away. They
think that the majority of dead people who are mexicans are not dead they are among them as
Howard LaFranchi thought that.(Lafrachi,1) So that, people do not be sad or they do not want
them to earth after the dead of people in Mexico and they show their respect and love to them
by the help of these days. People's ideas about the meaning of the day of the dead can be
understood easily from their songs which they sing in those days...
