Amongst one of the most greatest presidents, Theodore Roosevelt never received the
benefit of a defining "great" event. Instead , he was forced to make the most out of the small
events that circumstances placed in his path. As a young man, Theodore Roosevelt suffered from
asthma. He was ultimately limited from extracurricular activities such as playing sports or
exercising. However, his intellectual distinctness masked these flaws. His father continuously told
him that "he had the mind but not the body, and without the help of the body the mind cannot go
as far as it should." Roosevelt proved his father wrong by overcoming his potential weakness with
vigorous exercise programs , thus kept building upon the foundation laid by his father and ended
up not only curing himself of asthma, but also by becoming the most powerful man in the world.
In 1875 , Roosevelt was accepted into Harvard University , where he participated in numerous
political debates and supported the Republican candidate for president , Rutherford B. Hayes.
Soon after Roosevelt graduated from Harvard , he moved into a small townhouse in New York
City where the young Roosevelt had plans of attending Columbia School of Law...
