Recently, there was a leak of source code to Microsoft's popular Windows NT and Windows 2000. As Described in the article there was a "frenzy" of Internet file sharing. Apparently everyone was trying to get his or her hands on the code. The code contained hidden notes and profanity, it is unknown if this was the doing of the Microsoft employees or the people that later got a hold of the code.
One thing I never understood about programming is how we are supposed to make it easy for everyone to read, however, if I am a huge name corporation, such as, Microsoft I think I would have hidden notes and such, so that it would in fact make it harder for people to read and hack my programs.
It is said that there have been no reports of the "breach"-affecting customers, however, security experts have said that the 15% of code could give hackers and virus writers a lot more ability to create more effective attacks on the cyber world. It has also been said that with this 15% of code it is possible that people will be able to create bootleg copies of the 2 programs. Ken Dunham, Malicious Code Intelligence Director for security firm Defense said "It makes it easier, Instead of trying blindly to get in, now you can just go in, see the lines of code, run it, test it."
