I was lucky enough to enjoy a performance by the San Diego Symphony with a special guest appearance by Michael Feinstein on Friday, March 19 at 8:00 p.m. in the Copley Symphony Hall. The first part of the program included highlights from Oklahoma! and Symphonic selections from The Sound of Music. As the lights dimmed and the energetic Matthew Garbutt took his stance the crowed was very bedazzled to see all performers just tuning up their instruments. And with the wave of the conductors hand the music took off in a way that only the San Diego Symphony could create. Just watching and enjoying the music from my seat, located in row T section 38, in the middle row on the right side, I felt the rush of the instruments as they were played. It was amazing to see all of the instruments cued in at just the right time to bring quality to the music in ways that represent the very essence of what these instruments were meant for.
