An Conception of African Life is that difference and conflict existed between different tribes.
Consequently, the tribal model of the African past leads us to overlook the importance of inter-regional connections, to underestimate political sophistication of African cultures, and to ignore the importance of conflict between social classes, genders, and generations in African life.
