What happens to a dream deffered?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a soreand then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load
Or does it just explode?
Lorraine Hansberry, developed the title of her play, A Raisin in the Sun, from Langston Hughes poem Dream Deffered. Originally, the title of her play was suppose to be "The Crystal Stair", which is also found in one of Langston Hughes poem. Evidently we can see that Lorraine Hansberry admired Langston Hughes and his work. From the title "A Raisin in the Sun", Lorraine Hansberry developed a play that challenged the roles of African Americans, in the time when blacks were being discriminated upon because of the color of their skin...
