While reading the classics Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, I discovered that death is natures remedy for all things. During the French Revolution when something went wrong the people resorted to death as a remedy. In the book Les Miserables, Victor Hugo shows that death wasn’t always a bad thing, it was actually sometimes something to be proud of and worthy of sacrifice. “Long live death, let us all stay!”…”Brothers, he who dies here dies in the radiance of the future. And were entering a grave illuminated by the dawn.” When they were at the barricade, the “man of the people” knew his men were going to die. So he told them that even if they die at the barricade they’ll die with honor, and they’ll know they contributed to the lives of their future generation. “I shall die in a few minutes” Cosette and Marius shuddered.
