Viewpoints Comparison Because of the current conflict between Israel and Palestine, I chose two magazines that I thought would reflect that conflict. Tikkun is the name of the Jewish magazine and The Arab American News is the other. I expected to find very polarized viewpoints from each of these magazines. I was pleasantly surprised to find at least one of them with a very liberal viewpoint from what I had expected. I will start my analysis with The Arab American News. The home page for this magazine was laid out in large multi-colored blocks, with each block containing a title for an article in large, bold, print. It was as if the magazine wanted the visitor to focus on nothing but the issues, right from the start. Unlike other magazines like Time, there is no extra embellishment. There are no advertisements. This also would only detract from the issues. This magazine covers the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the part that the United States plays. This is illustrated by titles such as “President Bush and the Christian Zionist Lobby” and “Corporate America and the Israeli Occupation”.
