Do alcohol advertisers target youth and do their advertisements affect the attitudes of youth towards the consumption of alcohol? In this report we will focus on two sources of data primary and secondary. The secondary will be articles or hard data that we have collected that is both in favor of alcohol advertisements and anti alcohol advertisements. The primary will be hands on research or surveys. We chose to study this topic because it is something that we have all experienced in our short but educational lifetime. We were all minors at one time and believe it or not, consumed alcoholic beverages while under age.
The consumption of alcohol by minors is a large concern of many adults in our country and because of this there have been several organizations founded such as CAMY (The Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth), MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), and the FTC (Federal trade commission). CAMY and MADD are anti alcohol Marketing while the FTC is in favor of alcohol advertisers. We know that Organizations like CAMY and MADD have been trying to cut down on the amount of alcoholic advertisements and we wanted to know if these advertisements are really targeting youth and if they really have an affect on youth's attitudes toward alcohol consumption.
