The central theme of Of Mice and Men is the lonlieness. In Of Mice and Men, John Steinceck shows the big effet that being alone has on the different characters. Most of the characters are, in fact, all alone but each characters are affected in a different way. Such characters are Crooks, Candy and Curley's wife. First, Crooks is the only black man who is always being alone. Second, Candy is an old man who is not as useful as he was once before. Lastly, Curley's wife who got married with someone who she doesn't really like. THe them of loneliness is clearly showed in the characters of Crooks, Candy, Curley's wife.
