Throughout history marijuana has been used for various purposes in many different countries. The purposes have changed over time to fit in with our current lifestyles. This is also true in American history. Marijuana, scientific name is cannabis sativa, was first used as early as 2700 B.C. in China. Growing the marijuana plant began as far back as the Jamestown settlers, around 1611.
People used hemp from the marijuana to make rope, oil, soap, and use as bird seed. It was also used in making clothing because of it was very durable. People didn't have a problem with marijuana at this time in America's history...
