Scottish history is rich in culture. Castles dotting the plush green land, built for kings and noblemen, it would make anyone wonder how exactly they got there and how people with such limited resources were able to build such magnificent structures. Through thick and thin the Scottish have been able to carry on the legacy of these architectural masterpieces by educating people on their interesting history.
Most of the castles that are still standing today were built between the 1200's and the 1700's and updated and renovated in the 1800's. The positioning of many of these castles is definitely unique. For example, St. Andrews' Castle, built completely of stone, overlooks the sea and is completely surrounded by a moat. A Bishop originally had it built but when times of war came it was taken over by the opposing force. A good majority of the castles in Scotland are in the northeastern part of the region, where St. Andrews' Castle is located...
