Group Development
A group's strength is found in the relationships among the group members. This group will have a common objective, whose members are all working toward one purpose. Since there are usually a number of different characteristics, needs, and influences within a group, it is important to have members who are flexible and able to work with others. They all should be able to recognize and rely on the strengths of each member to accomplish the objective.
Group/Team development can be set to a number of stages that are followed to ensure the success of the project.
Forming the first stage of development is also referred to as the dependant stage. Members of the group may have conflicting ideas about the purpose, leadership and working procedures. The team then depends on outside expertise for guidance, job definition and task analysis. A lot of time spent during the first stage is on familiarizing themselves to each member and their different learning styles.
