An Effective Legal System
For a legal system to function effectively it is essential to achieve just outcomes and maintain social cohesion. The elements that can be seen as the strengths of an effective and reliable legal system include: A fair and unbiased hearing, effective mechanisms to dispute resolution, values and basic human rights, and Timely resolution of disputes. These elements in relation to this essay will help determine whether the legal system has produced just outcomes in relation to rape of a prostitute in three common cases. The cases are those of R v. Harris,
R v. Hakopian, and R v. Smith. All cases throughout this essay include rape, rape of a prostitute, and the conviction that followed.
