Huckleberry Finn
The autobiographical novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain tells the story of a young boy, living on the banks of the Mississippi River, during the 1840's in search of freedom and adventure.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn opens by familiarizing us with the events of the novel that preceded it, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Both novels are set in the town of St. Petersburg, Missouri. Huck and Tom were awarded $6000 each from the treasure they found in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn starts with Huck living with the widow Douglas and her sister Miss Watson who are trying to "sivilize" him. As a matter of fact Huck doesn't like life in civilization and would prefer an easy-going one. One day Huck's drunken father, Pap Finn, returns to claim the money Huck owns. This attempt fails and he kidnaps Huck and takes him to a deserted log cabin in the woods across the river from St. Petersburg...
