Hero Essay
There comes a time in a person's life when a choice needs to be made. This choice determines how others judge a person and also how this person feels about himself. The main character in Arthur Miller's version of The Crucible needs to make a choice. John Proctor, who is a well-respected farmer in the community of Salem, makes a choice to commit adultery against his wife. This choice proves to become his tragic flaw. After hating John Proctor for choosing to act on his tragic flaw, the audience actually feels empathy for him. All of these traits of John's Proctor's character make him a tragic hero.
