Setting: The entire setting occurs in the streets of Manhattan on December 9th, 1980. People are crowded around the apartments where John Lennon was shot to death. This is the site where many people came to pay their respects for John, and the interactions of the 9 characters is what the play is based upon. They’re on 72nd Street and Central Park West, in New York City. The atmosphere seems to be quite edgy where the burden that was laid upon the table seems so unbelievable as the people heard the streets where there is a light mist falling. The Play was written in 1984 by James McClure. The period of the 80's where lots of things were changing. Technology was the main change. Where the world was filled with 80's pop stars and hair metal. Plot Summary: The play begins as the actors are individually telling their stories of how they reacted when they first found out that John Lennon was murdered, or what they were doing at the time. They each give their story and you get a little feel of what character is really like. At this point in the play they are just 9 individuals that really don’t know each other at all. They are distant. Each group comes together. In the play there are 4 groupings. Fran Lowenstein and Brian Murphy who are taken up in their conversation about each other, but deeply are just looking for love. Then there’s the triplet, which includes Sally, Kevin and Mike.
