Note: My area of research was 'Trade policies and trade liberalisation'; from this I resolved to specifically research this area regarding Russia as a transitional economy. The following documents address my specific focus on the Russian economy and its trade liberalisation, progression to establish a modern market economy, throughout its transition.
Book 1: The New Political Economy of Russia
'Russia's Economic Transitions' examines the economic development and effects of Russia's three focal transitional periods; the Tsarist Economic Transition, the Soviet Economic Transition, and the Post Soviet Economic Transition. The book principally provides research and analysis of Russia's 'Domestic and Foreign Trade' in chapters 6, 15, and 24, each discussing the domestic and international trade network, trade interconnections (with the towns and the countryside, the country's regions, and domestic and foreign origin of supplies) and concerns in foreign trade. This addresses its trade liberalisation, which in the traditional Soviet system saw the reduction of tariffs to a secondary role, and officially downgraded policies and practices concerning trade began in 1986. However particular problems in Russia's trade framework discussed include, the complicated structure of its tariffs and its trade and investment policies. The book analyses Russia's performance and shares in world exports and imports and charts the relationship between trade liberalisation and macroeconomic policy.
Book 2: Russia's Economic Transitions
'The New Political Economy of Russia' also examines Russia's economic development, however in a more political respect. It's chapters focus on the present issues facing Russian policymakers and the understanding of the vast amount of research that has accumulated from a decade of transition.
