Unequal distribution of sickness: prevention rather then finding a cure
Though the papers, magazines and the news are not covering it anymore, inequality in distribution of sickness is still a relevant and up to date issue, now even more than ever. The distribution of sickness in the world is as unfair as it has always been, maybe it could be said it is even worsening because people are not even paying attention to the topic anymore. This is just one side of the issue of unequal distribution of sickness. Bigger problems exist and it is spreading amongst people in all layers of society. Inequality in distribution of sickness is not something that can only be found in less-developed countries, it can be found everywhere between people of different gender, different social status, people with different financial backgrounds it can even be found in our own families.
The health problems of modern societies display a new trend and highlight the effects of social structure. It is not necessarily the richest societies that are the healthiest, but those that are the most egalitarian.
Although there are many factors such as resources, access to education, and social frameworks, which can be sources of inequality, this paper focuses on income inequalities as the prime cause of health inequalities within developed countries and research has shown that the common thread between the healthiest nations appears to be the societal framework of the nation, namely an Egalitarian Society.
