Today, as well as in the past, music censorship has been a rather controversial issue in America. There have been many arguments made against it, for good reason. Censoring music has few/no positive effects on today's society. Some will argue that it is for the best interest of the people, but this is not so. Censoring music limits the American peoples' Freedom to Choose and their Freedom of Speech; technology along with the government are establishing ways to protect children from this music that society has proclaimed to be "offensive"; furthermore, there is no authentic document of words that are considered to be profane, which proves there are no positive effects of music censorship.
The Bill of Rights granted American's both the Freedom of Speech and the Freedom to Choose in the first amendment. By censoring music both of these rights are being taken away. Every American citizen has the Freedom of Speech. This means any person can say whatever he wants to say to whoever he wants to say it to, whenever he feels like doing so, and not one person can do a thing about it. Of course there have always been exceptions to rules, including this one...
