I have decided to write about Human Rights and some of the challenges we face today regarding this issue. There seems to be a gray area when it comes to establishing the status of rights and what rights people exactly have. It appears that the overall idea in the Middle Ages rested on the Natural Law theory, which relied on universal moral standards. It seems that in today's time we rely on something similar. The synthesis that emerged as the Liberal Position on Rights pretty much states that humans possess rights to liberty and life, possession of property so on and so on. The problem is enforcing everyone to comply by the same standard. The standard itself presents a challenge in that a norm for everyone will not be acceptable to someone else. Another problem is that human right cases go on and are rarely acted upon unless public opinion is engaged.
Looking at this issue and the main problem to enforce compliance with universal standards, from a realist view is quite easy. As a realist I would use what works and money talks...
