The American dream is interpreted in many different ways. But The Great Gatsby shows what it is really like to be living the American dream. Nick Caraway witnesses those who have experienced the American dream. The people that live around him are truly living it. Gatsby is a perfect example because he is free, he does any thing he wishes within his house and often calls parties for no reason. Tom is an example of someone living the dream because he is rich and can waste his time doing anything and no one will care. Even though he is not rich, I believe that Nick is also living the dream. He doesn't need to use his money to live the dream.
