The Athenaeum is a non profit association dedicated to preserve the memory and the glory of Maria Callas. The organisation was founded in 1974 by a group of inspired artists who wanted to contribute to the development and evolution of musical education and culture in Greece. Its valuable contribution over the course of time, recognised by the most established music institutions in the world, has earned Athenaeum international acclaim. Staffed by distinguished personalities of the arts, the Athenaeum Conservatory is considered to be one of the main vehicles of culture in present day Greece. In the building are housed: The Conservatory, two Concert Halls of a capacity 140 & (persons respectively); the club for the members of Athenaeum and the mess hall for students. Also are housed a musical library and film library for students' use. In the building there is also space for conferences, press reviews, exhibitions, book presentations, etc.
On Thursday, April 15, I was given the pleasure of attending one of the best piano recitals I have ever heard. The concert began at 9:00 PM in the Athenaeum Concert Hall...
