Television Vs. Newspaper
Statement: The television is the upgraded version of the newspaper
The purpose of a newspaper can be described in three words: Inform (to tell important information about people i.e. personals and the world) Entertain (they put comics, quizzes, horoscopes and many more things to entertain) and advertise (they have a lot of advertisement in there).
The purpose of a television is basically the same except they entertain with shows and not with quizes and comics they do still advertise and informal (except for personals)
There are many different newspapers like the age which has a bigger section on employment than others that's why it covers more to the employed people and the community which talks local not global it covers for people who want to hear about their comment and theirs foreign magazine like the New York times which talks about New York
They are also different types of Television stations like SBS that usually has foreign films, ABC that is usually kids programs and later on News. But channels 7,9,10 are basically the same. They are all rounders sometimes drama, comedy, thriller, always different.
The major-role for the newspaper I have to say is to tell vital news, interesting news and to tell helpful news too. Australia for example there was an article called "Flu could be a killer" that article tells us how flu has affected Australia and I bet that after reading that article tens of thousands of people got their vaccination. An example for an interesting article would to be "Saved in the nick of time" which is about a 69 year old women called fat skinner who have 17cm scissors cell her pelvis and spine...
