The Exxon Valdez is a ship that transports oil from Alaska to somewhere else. The Exxon oil company owns the ship. It is named the Exxon Valdez because it goes out of the port of Valdez. The Exxon Valdez is a very important event that happened in history. It is the biggest oil spill that happened in U.S. waters. Most oil spills happen in international waters, but this happened right off shore. The oil tanker had just filled up at Port of Valdez.
