With every "miracle cure" in medical science, there are positive and negative effects. The issue of gastric bypass surgery is no different. Within some of the articles I have looked through, there were stories where the person ends up living a happier, healthier life than he or she had before the surgery. At the same time, there were other articles where people wish they could go back to their old lives because their surgery went horribly wrong.
The article, "BACK FROM BEING FAT!" describes one of the success stories of gastric bypass surgery. Tanya Stivers was a size-five freshman and started to gain weight. By the time she was 25, she weighed 300 pounds and was considered morbidly obese. The weight began to affect her day-to-day activity, so she considered gastric bypass surgery.
