War vs. Individual
War affects us, whether we take part in the fighting or not; nothing about us is the same after a war, because wars are fought for change. ... Personalities, morals, anxiety, religion; they all go through a transformation from war. The horror and struggles of war make them different from whom they were when they left. Links between the two stories can be shown through the similarities of their reaction to war.
Hemmingway’s story, Soldier’s Home, is about Krebs, an American soldier who returns home from battle against the Germans years after the war was over. ... Since years had gone by before Krebs returned home, no one listened to his stories and traumas of war, and later he felt that he really needed to talk someone about it. ...
Later in the story, it becomes apparent that the war affected some of his behavior traits, mainly when he tries to talk to girls.
