Salaried Overtime
It is a beautiful Christmas Day in colorful Colorado. The weather is great and I have my whole family around me in my warm house to enjoy the day. Wait a minute these people are not my family, in fact I hardly know any of them. For what it is worth, I am not at home, I am at the plant on yet another holiday. You see, I work in the maintenance department.When the plant is down, which is only about 10 days out of the year; it is my time to get the jobs completed that need the plant down to compete. In this essay I will discuss my view on salaried overtime pay for worked holidays.
One could say that, when I started this job, I knew of this kind of working hours coming in. Well this is not entirely true. It is true that I knew that the position called for these kind of hours and that I was expected to work when needed, but I was also aware that my position was non-exempt salaried and that I would receive overtime for holidays worked...
