The Life of Aimee Semple McPherson was a life filled with achievement, however, surrounded by much controversy. When leaders within or outside the body of Christ find themselves rapped up in the middle of controversy, two truths will occur. First, there will be a spotlight turned on and every deed of darkness in the individuals' life will be exposed. Second, the individuals' will either pass through the fire of controversy with out being burned or they will be consumed by the fire that was ignited by their own evil deeds. I will argue that even though Christian "celebrities" appear outwardly to be holy and righteous, in a moment in time, sin can take even those in the "spotlight" and bring them crashing down. I will demonstrate how bad choices and sinful behavior stirred up controversy surrounding history's most flamboyant evangelist, intriguing missionary, editor, author, and the founder of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG), Aimee Semple McPherson, made her vulnerable to the attack of Satan on her character and integrity. The truth that God uses sinners with a heart for him to accomplish his purposes will be evident by the conclusion of this essay.
