The American Revolution is a very important historical event because it began the creation of a land for freedom. It also was the start of a democracy that paved the way for all other modern democratic states.
The American Revolution was a revolt by the patriot American colonists to break away from the British monarchy that controlled them. Many events led up to the start of war. Men like Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson devised a plan of action at the Continental Congress in Philadelphia to boycott all British goods. The King of England was furious so he blocked off the harbor and took an offensive at the first battles on April 18, 1775 at the battles of Lexington and Concord. Many famous key battles such as Valley Forge, Trenton, and Yorktown went on during this revolution. The Revolution was successful the Americans because of aid especially from France, but also from the Spanish and the Native Americans. The war officially ended on April 17, 1783 when Great Britain ratified the Treaty of Paris, granting America independence under its own set of laws, The American Constitution.
