AN ESSAY ON
“I AM THE HISTORIAN”
MR BILL GIBSON
I had the privilege of meeting Mr Bill Gibson, and sharing a few quiet ales with him, whilst partaking in Anzac Day ceremonies at Milton and Ulladulla earlier this year. When I approached him shortly thereafter, he graciously acceded to provide the following insight into aspects of his career in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). ...
As to the best aspect of his naval service, Bill found it difficult to pinpoint, but stated the following:
“Like everybody else, I rode the highs with the lows, and if I were young enough, I would be content to do it all over again. The Navy to me has always been a great service and, to this day, I am extremely proud to have been a part of it.
