Taking place in England in 1984, the Novel 1984 creates a totalitarian country ruled by Big Brother, a ruler of the only Party in Oceania. Living in the world divided into three huge states, Oceania, Eastasia, and Eurasia, Winston, the protagonist of 1984, lives a supervised routine. Living in the world where the Party controls every aspect of life including thoughts and emotions, Winston begins to develop unorthodox thoughts and grows hatred towards Big Brother. Then he meets Julia who also has rebellious thoughts like Winstons. Sharing his emotions with Julia, Winston enjoys a love affair until he is betrayed by a superficial friend, OBrien. Winston is captured and punished by the Party and is tortured until he finally comes to love Big Brother himself.
1984 is written by George Orwell, a famous British writer born in 1903 in India. Written in 1949, 1984 is one of Orwells original works that are best-known.
