The Dassler brothers were the founders of two very popular athletic brands today. Originating from Germany as sports shoe businessmen, they began to design specific shoes for specific sports. The technical innovations such as arch support made their footwear popular with athletes. The Dassler brothers also realized that the best way for them to advertise their shoes would be through the athletes themselves. In 1949, after the brothers decided to go their separate ways they each started two very successful brands. While Rudolph founded Puma, Adolph started Adidas. He came up with the name using a combination of the beginning of his first name and ending with the start of his last name. Adidas became popular in Europe and was brought to American in 1968. The popularity of this brand grew steadily in the United States through sports marketing and endorsements. Adidas soon was a brand name must have for teenagers across America...
