Multiculturalism is looked to as a threat to many Americans, which often causes many people to rebel against it. However, America has become diverse and Americans need to adjust and support the new way of living and learning. Two of the people who view multiculturalism as a threat are Berliner and Hull. They are the authors of the article "Diversity and Multiculturalism: The New Racism." In this article, Berliner and Hull strongly give their views on multiculturalism. They believe that, "Advocates of 'diversity' are true racists in the basic meaning of that term: they see the world through colored lenses, colored by race and gender" (2). Their theory of multiculturalism cannot be valid because almost everything they say is based on illogical thinking, especially when they say that multiculturalism does not let people see themselves as individuals, that multiculturalism causes separatism and that college campuses should not mirror society.
Berliner and Hull argue that multiculturalism causes people to cling to a racial group instead of looking at themselves as an individual human being. Multiculturalism teaches about all cultures. People can very well be part of a culture and still be an individual...
