I Never Promised You A Rose Garden by Joanne Greenberg is a semi-autobiographical story about a teenage girls three-year battle with schizophrenia. ... A great thing about her is that she never forces Deborah to accept her point of view. ...
The basic theme of this novel is that life never promises you a rose garden so even if you had some hardships you can still overcome them and live a nice life. ... I think people shouldn’t do that and they should live life to the fullest because there are people that haven’t had the chance to enjoy life, while others are throwing it away. ...
I really enjoyed this book because the content became extremely interesting to me. Since the mental illness Deborah has is related to Psychology, the doctors and professionals that helped her along the way, was one of the things I found intriguing. ... I liked how the novel let you into the mind of a mentally ill girl.
