Jesus spoke about his own death to his deisciples several times
a) Describe one occasion when he did this
Jesus spoke about his death three times, the final time was on the road to Jerusalem. Jesus was going ahead of the disciples, they were all filled with alarm. Once again Jesus took the twelve disciples aside and spoke of the things that were going to happen to him. He said ' Listen, we are going to Jerusalem where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law. They will condemn him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him, spit on him, whip him and kill him, but three days later he will rise to death' Jesus here is telling them what Is going to happen and he also refers to himself as the Son of Man, each time he speaks to them about his death
b) Explain why Jesus' disciples seem to have found his teaching about his forecoming death hard to take.
The third prediction of Jesus' suffering and death gives Mark an opportunity to state that the disciples were afraid. Jesus has made it clear this is his destiny, and I think it was mostly because, they felt there Messiah who ahd come to save them, was to be put to death, they were also scared of what the High Priests and elders might do to them, with a leader they would be lost and after leaving all their family and giving up all they had for Jesus, he was going to leave them, and might not return.
