INTRODUCTION
In this assignment, I will examine a specific critical incident I experienced in clinical practice in which communication played a significant part.
For the benefit of the assignment I will be using Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle to discuss the incident and then reflect on what I learnt from the experience. ... I also felt that I came across as friendly and approachable so I felt annoyed with the doctor when he was talking to Sarah because he was using ‘big’ words and phrases that I had trouble understanding, he was so quick and seemed to leave as quickly as he came, so what poor Sarah must have thought I did not dare guess. ...
In this assignment I have examined a critical incident in clinical practice namely my first ‘solo’ admission which involved communication. Wainwright (1985) suggested that verbal communication involves using the ears, while non-verbal communication involves what is seen, and is occasionally ‘back-up’ with the other senses.
I have used Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle to discuss the admission process and I have reflected what I have learnt from the whole experience.
