Mesopotamia, which is located in modern day Iraq, was the home of many different peoples that included the Sumerians, the Babylonians, and Assyrians. Each of these settlers contributed to the rise of civilization in Mesopotamia. These contributions included writing, the development of cities, agriculture, irrigation, the wheel for transport and the lunar calendar. . Other peoples in the Ancient World later borrowed many of these contributions that improved civilization in Mesopotamia.
