Anology of the cave
Platos Allegory of the Cave was an idea he used to sum up his Theory of Forms. This was the idea of there being two worlds; the world of ideas and the natural world
In Patos Allegory of the Cave Plato describes how a group of people are trapped in a cave, shackled and unable to turn and move in a way which only enables them to look at the back wall of the cave. The people are sat with their backs to the mouth of the cave and are forced to watch a shadow puppet play on the back wall of the cave.
Behind the people of the cave there is the cave mouth and a fire, human-like figures pass by holding varius different shaped objects and figures.
