Lawsons short stories all contain the same major significant theme, the bare and raw Australian outback. Characterised with the mix of the characters and there genre. Each story tends to delve into the heart of one or more major significant characters in each of the stories, giving you the intriguing look into the life of a true Australian, living the harsh Australian way in the harsh Australian outback, and towns. Each story to me personally seemed to lack the building of storyline. Being a set of short stories though the build up of a story line is always a difficult task to accomplish but the intriguing aspect of each of the stories is the build up of the characters, there personalities, traits and ways of life rather then a concentration on plot.
