Job design consists of job content, the methods to be used on the job, and the manner in which particular job will relate to others in the organization (Hodgetts & Altman, 1979, p.252). The interventions of job design focus on improving the design of work in order to increase the potential for achievement, growth, and recognition (Inkson & Kolb, 2002, p.432). Job redesign refers to any activities involving work changes with the purpose of increasing the quality of the workers job experience or improving the workers productivity (Hackman & Suttle, 1977, p.98). It is important to have a good job design for an organization, especially in manufacturing organization because it involves so many human resources. In this research essay I am going to talk about the four methods of job design, these include Job Simplification, Job Rotation, Job Enlargement and Job Enrichment. After a briefly outline and discuss, I will also state the advantages and disadvantages for each of the methods and real life examples of why they work.
