Tracing American Literature
In history, there had been several different time periods, eras and movements that have shaped America. But also, there are certain times that can change American Literature such as: the Puritans, the Romantic era, and the Realism era. Each of these time periods influence and changed American Literature, to make it what it is today.
The earliest time period for American Literature was the Puritan era. The Puritan era started around 1500's, when the Europeans set out to America to establish a new country. The Puritans had very strong beliefs. They believed that God chooses those who will be saved and those who will not; therefore the puritans always praised Him and they were always on their best behavior. During the Puritan Era, American Literature was greatly influenced by their love for God. Their writings were also were influenced by the Bible. The Bible shaped the Puritans beliefs; such as that life was a journey for salvation...
