How does Contextual setting in ESL Teaching affect students in the cognitive domain?
This question is put forward to testify whether contextual setting in ESL Teaching has effects on students in the cognitive domain, either positive or negative, and if there is, how great it is. To be exact, whether it can help improve students grade or make them lower, and how much the improvement or decrease will be.
Hypothesis:
Contextual Setting in ESL teaching helps to give a positive effect on students in the cognitive domain. That is to say, the better the contextual setting is fulfilled in ESL Teaching, the higher students grades would amount to.

a) Dependent variables: the language-teaching effect
b) Independent variables: contextual setting in ESL teaching
c) Moderator variables: 1 semester
d) Control variables: the number of learners, teachers teaching ability, students learning experience, textbook as the center of the experiment,
e) Intervening variables: students intelligence, affection(attitude, mood, interest) in English learning, teachers passion in teaching
To know whether Contextual setting in ESL Teaching has any effect on students in the cognitive domain, it is necessary to do a teaching experiment by way of teaching with a contextual setting and without any contextual setting respectively. The results from the two different ways of teaching will make a comparison, and thus help the researcher to get to the conclusion. In this course, the contextual setting plays the role of the reason, while the language-teaching effect the resultthis shows there is a relative relationship between the two factors that how well the contextual setting is fulfilled decides how good or poor effect the teaching would exert. In other words, the former is regarded as the independent variable, whereas the latter the dependent variable. Besides, there are other styles of variables that take effect during the course of this experiment, which are named as moderator variables, control variables, and intervening variables respectively according to their different functions...
