This question is put forward to testify whether contextual setting in ESL Teaching has effects on students in the cognitive domain, either positive or negative, and if there is, how great it is. ...
Hypothesis:
Contextual Setting in ESL teaching helps to give a positive effect on students in the cognitive domain. That is to say, the better the contextual setting is fulfilled in ESL Teaching, the higher students¡¯ grades would amount to.
Possible Variables:
a) Dependent variables: the language-teaching effect
b) Independent variables: contextual setting in ESL teaching
c) Moderator variables: 1 semester
d) Control variables: the number of learners, teacher¡¯s teaching ability, students¡¯ learning experience, textbook as the center of the experiment,
e) Intervening variables: students¡¯ intelligence, affection(attitude, mood, interest) in English learning, teacher¡¯s passion in teaching
To know whether Contextual setting in ESL Teaching has any effect on students in the cognitive domain, it is necessary to do a teaching experiment by way of teaching with a contextual setting and without any contextual setting respectively. The results from the two different ways of teaching will make a comparison, and thus help the researcher to get to the conclusion. In this course, the contextual setting plays the role of ¡°the reason¡±, while the language-teaching effect ¡°the result¡±¡ªthis shows there is a relative relationship between the two factors that how well the contextual setting is fulfilled decides how good or poor effect the teaching would exert. ... There are still many other variables involved when the effect the contextual setting in ESL Teaching might exert is studied, for example, the number of learners, teacher¡¯s teaching ability, students¡¯ learning experience, teaching materials, all these mentioned above are very important factors.
